The Chick From Sex And The City Is Very Disheartened With The Message Sex And The City Portrayed

DM — Cynthia Nixon, famous for her role as Sex and the City’s red-haired attorney, Miranda, has opened up about the iconic series that turned her into a household name. The 47-year-old, who is currently campaigning for Bill de Blasio in the New York mayoral race, told The New York Times that she is ‘proud’ of what Sex and the City accomplished for women, but is ashamed at its confluence of conspicuous consumption and love. Almost ten years after the show’s finale, the mother-of-three asked: ‘Is this what these women think true love is? A man who has enough money to buy you a walk-in closet?’ Ms Nixon, who married Christine Marinoni, the former New York director of the Alliance for Quality Education, last year, said that Sex and the City’s relationship between money and love ‘is an aspect of the show I never liked.’ ‘I remember when we screened the first movie in London,’ she recalled, ‘when Mr. Big shows Carrie that closet he’s built for her and the entire audience clapped. ‘I found that devastating. Nothing gets me as angry as these stories do. What’s that, Cynthia Nixon? You’re upset about the connection of love and money in the show that was exclusively about chicks who love money and shopping? Funny that this comes out long after the show ended and you’ve cashed in on 2 movies. If you’re upset about it you know what you should do? Give all of your money away. Every last dime. Because no one had heard of you before the show. It’s what gave you everything you have at this moment. So pack it all up, and donate everything in your name to some charity. Move out of your penthouse with walk in closets and give away all your shoes. Then I’ll believe just how disheartened you are.

PS – for the life of me I’ll never understand how 4 chicks who look like that made a hit show and carried it through 2 movies. They must have had really good writers.
